"Roadside Attraction"

I remember as a kid being super excited to see this this seasonal waterfall just east of Superior, Arizona. Although I'm no longer a kid, I still get stoked any time there is water rushing through this series of waterfalls. I am unsure of it's proper name, it is known as Apache Leap Falls as well as Queen Creek Waterfall. Whatever name you choose to call it, with all of the heavy rain last week it was running full force. If you choose to venture out and see it for your self I offer a word of caution; the rocks are extremely slippery when wet. Also, for the love of common sense.....PLEASE do not stop your vehicle ON the highway or cross the very busy road. You can access this area by walking under the bridge

"A Quiet Room"

This is Honeymoon Arch in Mystery Valley. This arch was more than likely inhabited long ago by Native people (as evidenced by the granaries in the upper right corner). I couldn't help but imagine what their traditions may have included. "But when you pray, go into your [most] private room, and, closing the door, pray to your Father, Who is in secret; and your Father, Who sees in secret, will reward you in the open" ~ Matthew 6:6 Without going into detail or answering any personal questions, if any of you pray, please say a prayer for me. The trail to the bottom of Bryce Canyon is very steep but it is quite a rewarding experience. "Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me." ~ Psalm 23:4

While in Bryce Canyon this weekend I realized that Zion was a mere hour and a half away & it would be a travesty not to make a visit.. This is a shot of the Watchman and the Virgin River in Zion National Park. I hope you enjoy

While most seem to shoot Bryce Canyon using predominantly a wide angle lens I opted to shoot mostly with a telephoto in order to dissect it a bit. If you look closely in the upper left of this image you will notice several little dots (people). I chose to leave these in the image in hopes of showing a sense of scale. I hope you enjoy......

A Nod to the Gods

I almost did not make the trip up to Monument Valley due to the road conditions. Yet I felt a very strong force pushing me to make the trip. I was a little disappointed yesterday when I arrived after driving in the snow for three plus hours and found no snow at all at Monument Valley. Even in 21 degree temps this particular morning I was grinning from ear to ear when I found the valley dusted with snow. I think the photography Gods were smilin' down on me

As I stood mesmorized at the sight of the Canyon before me, I could not help but wonder how many people, photographers, sunrises, & storms has this old gnarly tree witnessed. The Journey

This was shot at Horseshoe Bend near Page, AZ. Again, it was my intention to escape from the "run of the mill" obligatory overlook shots & create something different.
