Due to the cloudy skies & absence of the sun for most of my recent trip to Canyonlands National Park I tried to get creative not only in composition but in B&W photography as well. While standing on the ledge of a 1400 foot canyon the clouds opened very briefly and I found this composition rather interesting.
This was our third time attempting to photograph this amazing view at Green River Overlook, Canyonlands NP in the two days we spent in Moab. The weather (sky) just would not cooperate. A fair amount of time was spent watching the storm that was passing through and once the rain got to the overlook the tourists all scampered back to their cars. We held our ground hoping that the light would break through the clouds as rain fell around us. Finally, we got the brief moment when as the sun set, it came through a small opening in the clouds & washed the canyon with light.
